Game 98 WPA: I mean, that really got out of hand fast. Nats 2, LA 9

New, 18 comments

So, Zim(n) meltdowns down spectacularly, the Admiral throws a quality start in relief, and Werth hits two solo shots. Except for the spectacular meltdown, sounds like a good game!

I'd rather this were another picture of Chad Tracy.

  • Not a quality start: Jordan Zimmermann (-41.0%) decides to one-up Stras' disaster start by giving up 7 ER in 2 IP with a strikeout and 2 walks. That's not so surmountable for this offense.
  • A quality start in relief: Ross Ohlendorf (-1.2%) gives up 2 ER in 6 IP with 6 Ks and 1 BB, kind of like we expected NN to do, only not in relief.
  • Stat padder: Jayson Werth (+2.7%) is the WPA leader for the Nats today on the strength of his 2-3 with a walk and two solo shots. You don't get much WPA when your team is down by 7, sadly.
  • YOU MOCK MY PAIN: Chad Tracy (0.0%) gets a PH single in the 9th.
