With Kurt Suzuki and David DeJesus traded today, the Washington Nationals had two open spots on the 25-Man roster which they filled with backup catcher Jhonatan Solano and left-hander Xavier Cedeno.

The Washington Nationals dealt Kurt Suzuki to the Oakland A's early this morning in return for 22-year-old right-hander Dakota Bacus. This afternoon, they worked out a deal with Tampa Bay to send 33-year-old outfield David DeJesus to the Rays in return for a PTBNL or cash considerations. Former Nats' GM Jim Bowden wrote on Twitter this afternoon that he thinks the Nationals have a 22-year-old left-hander headed their way as the PTBNL though he didn't say which 22-year-old lefty that might be:

Tampa Bay Times' writer Marc Topkin reported that he'd been told the Nationals were given a list of players to choose from:

It's unclear when the Nationals will make that selection. With two spots open on the roster, however, they did make two roster moves to fill the spots left by Suzuki and DeJesus:

Solano, 28, has .167/.211/.222 line with two doubles in 38 plate appearances over 16 games with the Nationals so far this season. He's back for his third stint with the team. At Triple-A Syracuse this season, the catcher has a .214/.245/.279 line with seven doubles and a triple in 40 games and 148 PAs. Cedeno, 26, is back up with the Nats for his fourth stint of 2013. He's only pitched 1 1/3 innings with the Nationals, however. At Triple-A, Cedeno's (2-0) with a 1.47 ERA, a 3.07 FIP, 16 walks (4.70 BB/9) and 39 Ks (11.45 K/9) in 36 appearances in 30 2/3 IP.
