Nationals Beat Braves 6-5; Nats' Lineup For Game 2 Of Doubleheader In D.C.

The Washington Nationals beat the Atlanta Braves 6-5 in the first of two they'll play with the Braves today. Can the Nats make it 2 for 2 in the doubleheader with the NL East's first place team? Tanner Roark takes the hill in the nightcap.

Washington Nationals' catcher Wilson Ramos started in 24 straight games, an MLB high for 2013, finishing up the streak with a 1 for 3 game in the day half of today's doubleheader, but the 26-year-old catcher is sitting tonight in the nightcap with the Atlanta Braves. Jhonatan Solano is finally spelling the Nats' iron catcher. Solano will be behind the plate tonight catching Tanner Roark as the Nationals try to make it two in-a-row after this afternoon's ninth-inning walk-off win. The curly-W was the Nats' first in the nation's capital against the Braves this year, after they'd dropped six straight to the NL East's first place team to start the season.

Improbable as it was, with Braves' closer Craig Kimbrel giving up three runs (2 ER) for the first time in 225 career appearances, the Nationals came back for the win on Denard Span's grounder up the middle and Braves' shortstop Andrelton Simmons' 12th error of the year. Now the Nationals try to make it two straight when they play the second game of three with Atlanta in D.C.

Tanner Roark is looking for his third win in three starts after beating the Marlins and Mets in his first two major league starts, which came after nine relief appearances out of the Nationals' bullpen. On the year, the 26-year-old, '08 25th Round pick is (6-0) with a 1.30 ERA, a 2.24 FIP, eight walks (2.08 BB/9) and 26 Ks (6.75 K/9) in in 34 2/3 IP. Can Roark make it seven-straight to start his MLB career? Can the Nats make it 10 of their last 11? Game 2 of 2 starts at 7:05 PM EDT in D.C.
