Nationals Agree To Terms With Stephen Strasburg, Avoiding Arbitration

The Washington Nationals announced via Twitter tonight that they and right-handed starter Stephen Strasburg "agreed to terms," avoiding arbitration:

Strasburg, 25, signed a 4-year/$15.1M major league deal after the Nationals made him the no.1 overall pick of the 2009 Draft which included a clause which stipulated that he would make $3.9M in 2013 if he didn't reach arbitration before then.

In his fourth major league season last year, Strasburg was (8-9) with a 3.00 ERA, 3.21 FIP, 56 walks (2.75 BB/9) and 191 Ks (9.39 K/9) in 30 starts and 183 IP over which he was worth +3.2 fWAR.

Strasburg was one of ten arbitration-eligible Nationals along with fellow '09 1st Round pick Drew Storen, Jordan Zimmermann, Ross Detwiler, Doug Fister, Tyler Clippard, Ian Desmond, Jerry Blevins, Wilson Ramos and Ross Ohlendorf.

Ohlendorf agreed on what is reportedly a 1-year/$1.25M deal in the first week of December.

No details of the deal for 2014 were announced by the Nationals tonight. CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman is reporting that it's a $3.975M deal with performance bonuses:
