World Series Game 7 GameThread: San Francisco Giants at Kansas City Royals

The Kansas City Royals avoided elimination with a 10-0 win over the San Francisco Giants in Game 6 of the 2014 World Series last night in Kauffman Stadium, so the AL Champs and the National League winners go at it one more time tonight in Game 7 of the 110th Fall Classic. Jeremy Guthrie takes the mound for the home team against veteran right-hander Tim Hudson tonight in KC.

"When this thing started, I really hoped we could play seven just for the experience of it and the thrill of it, and we're here now." -Ned Yost on the Royals and Giants playing a Game 7 tonight

Though he admitted he wouldn't have minded winning the series early, Royals' manager Ned Yost told reporters after last night's win that he and and his team know playing a seventh game is special.

"I mean, Game 7s are always special," Yost said. "As kids, what I fall back on is when I was 10 years old, hitting rocks in the backyard, trying to hit it over the fence for a home run. I never one time thought, okay, bases loaded, two out, bottom of the 9th, Game 5 of the World Series, you know? Never. It was always two outs, bottom of the 9th, Game 7 of the World Series.

"So it's special, you know? Secretly, yeah, you'd like to come in and win it in 4, win it in 5, but when this thing started, I really hoped we could play seven just for the experience of it and the thrill of it, and we're here now. So we feel good about our chances. We get to experience that tomorrow."

"It is a special game," Giants' skipper Bruce Bochy said after failing to wrap the series up with a win last night.

"I mean, this is it. It's do or die, and that's how you have to approach it. You want to make sure you're ready for anything. We've been in Game 7 before.

"You go back to the series against St. Louis, not in the World Series, but that's a pretty big game, too, because it's going to get you to the World Series.

"So a lot of these guys have been there before. Really I don't think I'm going to change because it's Game 7. I mean, I felt the same way tonight. We'll throw everything at them, if necessary. There's no tomorrow. We know that."
