2014 SB Nation MLB Awards: Nationals' Best Pitching Appearance of the Year

Can any of the Washington Nationals' starter possibly beat out Jordan Zimmermann in the voting for the Nats' "Best Pitching Appearance of the Year"? Stephen Strasburg? Gio Gonzalez? Doug Fister? Tanner Roark? Does anyone stand a chance?

Rob Carr

So after this there's only one more category on which to vote for the SB Nation's 2014 MLB Awards. Starting now, your job is to choose the Washington Nationals' "Best Pitching Appearance of the Year".

Over the last 24 hours we asked you to choose the nominees that are in the poll below.

Do any of them stand a chance against Jordan Zimmermann's regular season-ending no-hitter against the Miami Marlins?

"He kind of rolled on the ball and I didn't really know what happened. And then he lifts his glove up so I knew that he had it." -Jordan Zimmermann on Steven Souza's no-hit-saving catch

After all, it was the first no-hitter in the modern era of baseball in the nation's capital and the first one by a Washington, D.C.-based starter since 1931.

But there were a number of strong starts by Nationals' starters this year, it's up to you to vote for the best.

Someone start a campaign for one of the other outings to see if it can beat Zimmermann's. Start a hashtag. Make t-shirts. Uh, you have 24 hours to do so if you choose to...

Without further ado, here are the nominees for the SB Nation MLB 2014 Award for the Nationals' "Best Pitching Appearance of the Year":

10. Jordan Zimmermann's no-hitter in Game 162 of 162?

9. Or maybe Zimmermann's eight scoreless innings against the Padres:

8. How about Tanner Roark's seven scoreless against the Braves in the division-clinching win?

7. Or maybe one of Roark's two strong outings against the Padres. 11 Ks in SD?:

6. Tanner Roark's three-hit shutout vs the Padres in D.C.?:

5. Stephen Strasburg coming up big against the Braves late this season?:

4. Or maybe Strasburg's seven strong and 10 Ks vs the Phillies?:

3. Doug Fister's complete game vs the Marlins late this season?:

2. Doug Fister vs the Atlanta Braves:

1. Gio Gonzalez's 12 Ks in 7.0 scoreless vs the Mets:
