2014 SB Nation MLB Awards: Team of the Year VOTING

New, 64 comments

This is it, the final category in the 2014 SB Nation MLB Awards. We'll ask you to vote one more time, this time for the MLB "Team of the Year" in 2014, though the rules of this one say that we can't vote for the team we cover here at FBB. That's the Nats, ICYMI.

This is it, the last category in the 2014 SB Nation MLB Awards. [ed. note - "Yeah!?"]

Voting for the "Funniest Moment" of the Washington Nationals' 2014 campaign, the "Most Regrettable Moment", the "Best Defensive Play", the "Most Important Hit" and the "Pitching Appearance of the Year" is already underway and almost over. There are links to those polls in the previous sentence and below.

For the final award, we're going to vote on the "Team of the Year", whatever that means, though I'm told we're not allowed to vote for our own team, which in this case, in case you didn't realize it after all these years, is the Washington Nationals.

So... were the Kansas City Royals the "Team of the Year" in 2014 even though they didn't win it all?

Were the World Series Champion San Francisco Giants the "Team of the Year" since they did... win it all that is?

Is it the Yankees even though they didn't win a thing, but just because they're the New. York. Yankees. Some fan somewhere just cited the number of rings.

I'm going to go out on a limb that is actually rather stable and quite unlikely to break under the pressure and say that the league-wide continued lack of respect for the Nationals will lead to a low voter turnout in support of the 2014 Nats as the "Team of the Year" especially without us voting for them (if they were our/your choice) and I predict they will fail to gain much support from the voters around the SB Nation's baseball sites, so I'm guessing it will be the Royals, Giants or maybe the Baltimore Orioles who win this one.

Rather than ask for a list of nominees, we'll just proceed straight to the poll this time. Vote for your pick below.

Who was the Team of the Year" in Major League Baseball this season?

[ed. note - Voting for all of the awards is open until November 16th here at FBB. On November 17th, we'll put up a post with the winners in each category (from our voting) and those winners will be sent on to the writers at sbnation.com/MLB where an SB Nation/MLB committee will select 4-5 nominees for each category based on team site results and hold a nationwide vote for each on sbnation.com/MLB to determine the league-wide winners.]
