Game 63 WPA: Another routine blow out win. Nats 2, SF 1

I know it's late. Fangraphs was down this morning, then I had to actually do my job the rest of the day.

Yeah, no worries at all.

  • Five aces without a wild card? Doug Fister (+39.3%) pitches 7 scoreless with 3 Ks and 1 BB. I'd gripe about the lack of Ks, but it seems churlish given the results.
  • Non-Desmond hitting: Danny Espinosa (+11.9%) singles to put runners corners and set up the go-ahead run in the 5th (+13.1%).
  • Aroo: Jayson Werth (+4.9%) singles in the eventual winning tally a few batters later (+9.3%).
  • I was never worried: Tyler Clippard (+7.4%) earns a shutdown with a scoreless aeyth, working around a walk, while Rafael Soriano (+7.3%) earns one with a one-run 9th, just enough to hold to the lead.
