NN pitched a good game, but it seemed like the rest of the Nats were trolling him.

  • Decent enough: Jordan Zimmermann (-11.0%) gives up one unearned run in 6.1 IP, but leaves with the bases loaded after 5 Ks and no walks.
  • Change is working: Drew Storen (+31.7%) comes into a bases-loaded, one-out jam in a one run game and gets out of it with no runs scoring for a huge 7th-inning shutdown.
  • Use two hands: Kevin Frandsen (+12.8%) is 1-2 with a go-ahead sac fly in the 7th (+6.8%), an outfield assist, and a face-palm-worthy error.
  • Wheels: Adam LaRoche (+18.8%) is 1-2 with a pair of walks and a SB.
  • Horns up: Wilson Ramos (+12.7%) is 2-4 with a double.
  • Stat padder: Asdrubal Cabrera (+3.0%) cranks one out to the RF corner for a critical insurance run in the aeyth (+12.2%).
  • By WPA, these two outings are equivalent: Tyler Clippard (+7.1%) gives up a single during a scoreless aeyth for a shutdown. Rafael Soriano (+7.0%) gives up a solo shot, two hits, and a SB before finally ending the game with the lead intact, also getting a shutdown.

Tonight's WPA brought to you by smoke and fire:
