In spite of the anger over Los Angeles Dodgers' infielder Chase Utley's late, hard slide into second in Game 2, which left New York shortstop Ruben Tejada with a broken right leg, Mets' skipper Terry Collins told reporters today that he instructed tonight's starter, Matt Harvey, not to seek revenge or retaliate in such an important game.

"Play baseball," Collins said. "Play the game. This is too big a game. We need to not worry about retaliating. We need to worry about winning. The one thing you don't need to do is get yourself in a situation to put yourself on the bad side. I understand everything that happened. As frustrated as we are, as upset as we are, we feel so bad for Ruben, but you know, the one thing we can't do is cost ourselves a game, and this particular game, because we're angry. We can play angry, but we gotta play under control."

Harvey, making his first postseason start after a controversy-filled campaign in which his innings limit in his first full year back following Tommy John became an issue, finished the regular season (13-8) in 29 starts, with a 2.71 ERA, 3.05 FIP, 37 walks (1.76 BB/9) and 188 Ks (8.94 K/9) in 189 ⅓ innings pitched over which he held opposing hitters to a combined .219/.265/.344 line.

He was making his third start of the season against the Dodgers tonight, after going (1-1) with a 3.75 ERA and a .271/.352/.479 line against in 12 IP in the previous two outings.

LA lefty Brett Anderson was (10-9) in 31 regular season outings, with a 3.69 ERA, 3.94 FIP, 46 walks (2.30 BB/9), 116 Ks (5.79 K/9) and a .276/.324/.402 line against in 180 ⅓ IP.

Game 3 of their NLDS matchup starts at 8:30 PM in New York...
