Washington Nationals Winterfest Open Thread - Day 1

New, 25 comments

It's that time of year again! There's a chill in the air, [ed. note - "Just go with it."] there is some snow on the ground and the Washington Nationals are back in town for Nationals WinterFest, the yearly gathering of the Nats and their diehard supporters...

From 11:30 AM until 4:00 PM today and tomorrow the Washington Nationals will be holding their yearly gathering of players and fans, which this year is called, Nationals Winterfest!

Holiday-themed activities, interviews with players, photo ops, game shows, batting cages, ballpark concessions, a kids press conference with some of the Nationals and more all at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center and this year it's a two-day event, which for us here at Federal Baseball means two days worth of interviews with players and tons of stories over the next couples of days.

We're old pros at this by now, having attended NatsFest (now WinterFest) for the last four years in a row (or maybe it's just been three, who's counting).

Our afternoon will consist of a series of press scrum-type interview opportunities with a long line of players, coaches and some other randos who will file into the "media pit" and face the reporters covering the nation's capital's Nats for the first time since the end of the 2015 campaign.

It should be a long, fun day with tons of quotes and pics so if you can't make it you can follow along here and enjoy the day vicariously through us.

For those of you who aren't on Twitter, we'll put a widget at the end of this post so you can scroll through over the weekend and see what we see live as it happens.

If you're going to be there, let us know and if we ever venture out of the media pit (we probably won't) we'll stop by and say, "Hi." Hope you enjoy your Nationals WinterFest or at least enjoy following it here...

We just want to see how much muscle Trea Turner packed on this winter to prepare himself for the rigors of everyday life in the majors....

It's time for Nationals WinterFest!
