Game 9 WPA: Winning recipe. Nats 10, BOS 5

Gio did well enough, there was only one error, and the Nats put together an explosion of offense in the ridiculous old-timey pinball machine of a ballpark.

(What do these graphs mean?)

  • Good enough: Gio Gonzalez (-12.9%) doesn't have the greatest start, but fans 6, walks 2, and gives up 5 runs over 6 IP. Finally, a game with no HBP!
  • Early hitting: Bryce Harper (+11.0%) doubles in a run in the first for the early lead (+9.9%), while Ryan Zimmerman (+14.2%) follows up with an RBI triple to extend it (+9.9%).
  • No error today, either: Ian Desmond (+11.3%) hits a tie-breaking solo shot over the green monster in the third (+12.1%).
  • The winning blow: Wilson Ramos (+14.3%) is 2-5 with a bases-clearing double in the 3rd to provide the eventual winning margin (+16.6%).
  • Junk timer: Tyler Moore (+3.9%) lofts a two-run bomb over the monster in the 7th for some welcome but ultimately unnecessary insurance (+6.7%).
