Game 39 WPA: The return of Espinosa. Nats 10, Pads 5

New, 31 comments

Stras struggled, but hung on to hand off to Roark and Solis, and the Nats exploded for a ton of runs after a bit of a pause.

I still don't believe he's for real, but he got it done today.

(What do these graphs mean?)

  • Labored: Steven Strasburg (-11.9%) gives up 3 runs in 5+ IP with 7 Ks and a walk, but he keeps the Nats close enough.
  • I still say it's a trick: Danny Espinosa (+43.3%) is the real hero today, going 1-3 with a walk and a dramatic, two-out, three-run bomb to RF to put the Nats ahead by one in the 5th (+44.8%).
  • Such a stat-padder: Bryce Harper (+24.2%) is 3-4 with a walk, a triple to lead off the 5th (+11.5%), and three-run jack 5 rows back in the LF corner in the 7th (+2.0%).
  • Not quite a shutdown: Tanner Roark (+5.8%) gets no respect from the WPA monkeys, just missing a shutdown for his 3 IP with two runs in and a comfortable lead to play with.

Tonight's WPA brought to by, "What am I rebelling against? Whaddaya got!"
