Game 63 WPA: 2/3s perfect, 100% awesome. Nats win 4-0.

Scherzer was the whole story, although I don't understand how he went 9 innings with all those strikeouts. Doesn't he know they drive his pitch count up?

(What do these graphs mean?)

  • It tastes like awesome: Max Scherzer (+41.0%) is perfect through 6 and ends up with a CG shutout, fanning a new Nats-record 16 batters, walking one, and giving up a solitary Texas-leaguer just out of Rendon's reach.
  • Here's your run, make it stick: Anthony Rendon (-1.3%) is 1-3 with a walk and a third-inning sac fly for the winning run (-2.3%).
  • Okay, you can have some insurance: Jose Lobaton (+3.9%) is 1-4 with a 4th-inning RBI single to put the Nats up by two.
  • Isn't this a little butter-upon-bacon, runs-wise? Clint Robinson (+14.7%) is 2-4 with with a two-out, two-RBI double in the 7th to put the Nats up by four (+11.9%).
  • Run manufactury: Denard Span (+10.1%) is 2-4 with a SB and a walk, scoring the Nats' first run.
