Game 68 WPA: Joe BOSS, amirite? Nats win 4-1

New, 2 comments

Joe Ross is earning his obvious nickname with another strong outing. The Nats put together a passel of hits in support, scoring surprisingly few runs in the end, but scoring enough.

(What do these graphs mean?)

  • Chief executive: Joe Ross (+27.4%) fans 11 (eleven) hitters and walks one in 7.1 IP, giving up one run. Not bad for being the throw-in, right?
  • ¡Vamos! Wilson Ramos (+13.2%) is the hitting WPA winner, going 2-4 with a two-out, RBI double in the first for the eventual winning tally (+9.7%) and an RBI single in the 3rd to put the Nats up by two (+5.5%).
  • Set up, knock down: Anthony Rendon (-4.5%) singles to put runners corners in the first (+9.5%), but GDPs with the bases loaded to end the second (-12.6%).
  • WPA doesn't care about quiet success: Drew Storen (+2.8%) hardly budges the WPA needle with a 1-2-3 ninth featuring 2 Ks.
