Game 54: The triumphant return of Anthony Rendon. Nats lose 2-1

This game was all bunts and TOOBLANs (although some of that was actually umpiring like a nincompoop--are the NY umpires so blind they can't even see a TV screen? RETIRE!).

Hey, remember the Nats? Same ol' Nats!

(What do these graphs mean?)

  • Did he warm up at all? Gio Gonzalez (-0.3%) can't miss bats or find the zone in the first, oddly giving up 2 runs on a base-loaded walk and a GDP before throwing another 5 scoreless afterward with 6 Ks and 4 BBs on the night.
  • The 'A' is for 'Singles Machine': Michael Taylor (+20.9%) leads team WPA tonight with a 3-4 night on a swinging bunt, a popped-up sac bunt in the 7th that went for a single (+11.7%), and a clean single to the tying run on base in the 9th (+9.2%).
  • Triumphant, returning: Anthony Rendon (+4.3%) is 2-4 with a single and 6th-inning double (+13.6%).
  • Unhelpful: Denard Span (-26.8%) has 5 LOB. Ian Desmond (-22.3%) has 4. Dan Uggla (-11.2%) has a pinch-hit pop up with two on in the 7th.
  • Least helpful: Clint Robinson (-3.4%) gets picked off first to end the game (-15.9%).
