Wire Taps: Max Scherzer worth the money so far; What if the Nationals had signed Jason Heyward?; Should Nats go for Mark Melancon?

Catch up on the latest Nationals news while you wait to see if the 2016 season ends tonight in Cleveland. Nats news and lots of it...

Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports

Halloween is over, and the Nationals have still yet to play a game on October 31st. Actually, the latest they've ever played in a season is October 14th, which came this season in Game 5 of the NLDS.

Let's hit the links.

Two seasons in, Max Scherzer still impressive
Scherzer *only* has five years left with the Nationals, but the Nationals seem to have gotten their money's worth with the righty for his first two seasons. One might call it Max-imum value.

Should the Nats re-sign Mark Melancon?
There are a lot of possibilities, but Melancon is a known commodity for the Nationals who will be cheaper than Aroldis Chapman, but will still get the job done. A perfect fit?

Scary thoughts: The Nationals signing Jason Heyward
Heyward hit .230 for the Cubs this past season. With seven home runs. And 49 RBI. Did we mention that the Nationals offered this guy $200 million last year?
