Twitter reacts to Max Scherzer winning the NL Cy Young Award

Max Scherzer won pitching’s most prestigious award, and everyone was pretty pumped.

MLB: Game Two-Washington Nationals at New York Mets Andy Marlin-USA TODAY Sports

Max Scherzer won the NL Cy Young Award on Wednesday night, becoming the first pitcher in Nationals’ history to win the honor, and only the sixth pitcher to win the award in both the NL and the AL.

Scherzer earned 25 of the 30 first-place votes available, which sealed up the award for him in convincing fashion, deservedly — the righty threw 228.1 innings in the 2016 season, posting a record of 20-7 with a 2.96 ERA and 284 strikeouts to earn the award.

Although Max Scherzer’s win was a little less -- let’s say — dramatic than the aftermath of the AL Cy Young Award announcement, Twitter was still pretty excited — here’s how everyone reacted.
