The Washington Nationals and Houston Astros are expected to move into their new Spring Training home next year, so today's game in Viera, Florida's Space Coast Stadium will be the last one in the park the Nats have called home since 2005.
And, of course, it's raining there an hour before the scheduled start of this afternoon's Grapefruit League matchup with the Miami Marlins.
Stephen Strasburg is scheduled to take the mound at 1:05 PM EDT against 34-year-old Fish lefty Chris Narveson.
Strasburg will be making his fifth start of the Spring today. In his first four outings, the 27-year-old right-hander, who could be entering his final season with the Nationals, has given up 15 hits, five runs, all earned, and five walks, while striking out 19 batters in 14 innings, over which opposing hitters have a combined. 291 AVG.
Nats' skipper Dusty Baker is sending what looks like the expected everyday lineup out for today's matchup with the Marlins:
- Ben Revere - CF
- Anthony Rendon - 3B
- Bryce Harper - RF
- Ryan Zimmerman - 1B
- Daniel Murphy - 2B
- Jayson Werth - LF
- Wilson Ramos - C
- Danny Espinosa - SS
- Stephen Strasburg - RHP
Is that how things will look on Opening Day? With Max Scherzer on the mound in place of Strasburg, of course.
This afternoon's game is available in audio form only, but at least it's Charlie and Dave calling the action!
