Yesterday's home finale in Space Coast Stadium was washed out by rain, which stinks for the fans who turned up to say goodbye to Viera, Florida and the park the Washington Nationals have called home in the Spring since 2005.
The cancellation did, however, push Stephen Strasburg's planned start back a day and though Charlie and Dave would have painted pictures with words for us yesterday, we get to see Strasburg take on the St. Louis Cardinals with our own eyes today, since the game is being broadcast on MLB.tv.
Strasburg is scheduled to take the mound at 1:05 PM EDT against Cards' starter Adam Wainwright in the next-to-last game before the Nationals head north for this weekend's two-game exhibition set with the Minnesota Twins in Nationals Park.
Strasburg will be making his fifth start of the Spring today when he takes on the Cardinals.
In his first four outings, the 27-year-old right-hander, who could be entering his final season with the Nationals, has given up 15 hits, five runs, all earned, and five walks, while striking out 19 batters in 14 innings, over which opposing hitters have a combined. 291 AVG.
Here's the Nationals' lineup for this afternoon's matchup:
- Trea Turner - SS
- Michael A. Taylor - CF
- Clint Robinson - 1B
- Chris Heisey - LF
- Matt den Dekker - RF
- Stephen Drew - 3B
- Scott Sizemore - 2B
- Jose Lobaton - C
- Stephen Strasburg - RHP
