Spring Training (or at least, the Florida portion) is over. The Nationals will come north today, play a few exhibition games... and then it'll all start again. Only four more days until the Nats head to Atlanta and Max Scherzer throws his first pitch of the year.
Here's the beat from Half Street.
The Nationals and Mets enjoyed a homerfest on Wednesday
A very one sided homerfest, albeit. Stephen Drew, Jayson Werth and Ryan Zimmerman all hit homers and the Nats won a very one-sided game (so one-sided, in fact, that Joe Ross pinch hit in the ninth), 12-1. Plus, the game was pitched only by the bullpen, as Max Scherzer was scratched. A fitting end to an impressive spring.
Why the Nationals hot spring could lead to big things
Spring Training games may not be meaningless after all, as the Nationals could potentially take the momentum into the season.
iPads are coming to MLB Dugouts and Bullpens
After the Spring Training escapade with Snapchat, Major League Baseball has taken it a step further, with iPads in the dugout. Dusty Baker may not be too excited.
Saying one last goodbye to Tyler Moore
Looking back at a promising, but ultimately failed tenure for Tyler Moore with the Washington Nationals.
With rainout looming, Scherzer scratched, throws at minor league complex
Rain was in the forecast on Wednesday afternoon, so Dusty Baker wanted to make sure his ace got to throw one more time before opening day.
Max Scherzer is the new Sarah McLachlan
The ace starred in humane society ads with his dogs Bo and Rafi. (Maybe Scherzer and his dogs will be next year's player & pet figurine.)
