Scherzer wasn't sharp, the lineup looked listeless, and only Harper had a hard hit.

(What do these graphs mean?)

  • Not as advertised: Max Scherzer (-31.0%) gives up some hard contact, surrendering 5 runs in 5 IP with 3 Ks and 2 walks.
  • Early hope, unfulfilled: Bryce Harper (+6.4%) cranks a two-out solo bomb in the bottom of the first for the early lead (+10.8%).
  • Dans, dented: Daniel Murphy (+1.5%) and Danny Espinosa (+1.3%) are the only other Nats with positive hitting WPA, getting HBP at the start of 4th (+3.7%) and 5th (+3.9%) innings, respectively.
  • Unhelpful: Matt den Dekker (-7.5%), Michael Taylor (-6.4%) and Clint Robinson (-6.9%) combine to go 0-10 with 4 Ks and 4 LOB.
