Game 38 WPA: Group effort [at losing]. Nats lose 1-5

Joe Ross gives up a bunch of hits, but it doesn't matter so much because the rest of the Nats are busy making errors and stranding runners.

I'm pretty sure Screech is also to blame in this somehow.

(What do these graphs mean?)

  • A step back: Joe Ross (-25.8%) struggles to complete 5.2 IP, letting in 5 runs (3 earned) with 3 Ks and 2 walks, including a two-out, two-RBI single to the opposing pitcher in the 6th (-12.1%).
  • Oops: Stephen Drew (+4.5%) is lucky he doesn't get the WPA hit for dropping an infield popup with two outs in the 3rd, allowing two runs to score on the error (-19.0%).
  • Highlight reel: Ryan Zimmerman (+12.0%) hits a double to the out-of-town scoreboard in the fourth, but a collision between outfields turns it into an inside-the-park home run (+12.1%).
  • The game off has ruined his mojo! Bryce Harper (-10.4%) is 0-3 with a walk and 4 LOB.
