Wire Taps: Nationals' top of the order struggles; Daniel Murphy returns; Nats fans get no pizza ever

Twenty-four hours in Washington Nationals news, all in one place for your convenience....

Adam Hunger-USA TODAY Sports

Well, that was pretty much what we were expecting. Although the game did not turn out the way the Nationals wanted it to, it went the way pretty much everyone expected - a low-scoring, close game, dominated by pitching.

The good news is that there's another game tonight... and seventeen more against the Mets.

Here's the latest from Citi Field.

Even though the Nats fell to the Cubs for four games straight at Wrigley Field, they still may be the only team in the NL with a chance to get past them in the playoffs.

Bryce Harper cheats to win a game on 'The Tonight Show'
Bryce was on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday night... and totally, definitely cheated to win a game.

Murphy's return to Citi Field is bittersweet for fans
To quote Bob Carpenter: "Pregame video - cheers! First at-bat - cheers! Second at-bat... you're a bum!"

This is why Nats fans get fewer discounted pizzas
The Nats' deal with Papa Johns, win and score seven or more runs and get 50% off, is the toughest in baseball. So much for that "brookie".

The top of the order is doing a whole lot... of nothing
Ben Revere and Michael A. Taylor haven't provided too much of an impact this year, meaning that Bryce Harper and Daniel Murphy haven't been given as many chances to drive in runs.

Tonight's Game: Nationals vs Mets - 7:10 PM (MASN, ESPN, WJFK)
