For the second time in a week, the Washington Nationals pounded Matt Harvey and beat the New York Mets, this time by a 7-4 score, before a rowdy crowd at Nationals Park.
On Monday Tuesday night, the five different Nats hit home runs -- three against Harvey in just five innings.
And oh, by the way, Stephen Strasburg extended his season-opening winning streak to 8-0 with an 11-strikeout performance over 6 2/3 innings.
My, what a difference a year makes.
Strasburg allowed just four hits and two walks in his appearance to along with two earned runs -- and even added a single for good measure. On the other hand, Harvey was touched for eight hits and two walks, striking out just one in his five innings of work.
Ryan Zimmerman, continuing a little resurgence, hit his sixth homer of the season on a changeup from Harvey in the fourth inning. The next batter, Anthony Rendon, did the same, homering off the change for his third of the season.
In the next inning, Daniel Murphy (2 for 4, 2 RBIs) crushed an offering from Harvey for his seventh of the season.
Later, even Ben Revere got into the act, homering off fellow lefty Antonio Bastardo for the fifth of his career, and Wilson Ramos notched his fifth off Jim Henderson in the eighth.
