Game 47 WPA: You can't win with no runs. Nats lose 0-2.

Roark pitched better than the Nats deserved, but you gotta score runs to win.

(What do these graphs mean?)

  • Enjoy your loss, loser: Tanner Roark (+9.2%) fans 5 and walks two, allowing only a pair of runs in 7 IP to wear the loss, because apparently everyone in the lineup is a big jerk who refuses to score for him.
  • Possibly Roark's only friend: Daniel Murphy (+12.3%) singles to bring the winning run to the plate with no outs in the first (+14.2%), although no runs come in, so it may just been a cruel joke.
  • LOBsterman: Ryan ZImmerman (-21.6%) is 0-4 with 2 Ks, one of which came right after Murph set up the dramatic comeback attempt (-12.5%).
  • Clamdigger: Anthony Rendon (-16.9%) is also 0-4 with a pair of Ks, grounding out to further tamp the 9th-inning rally (-9.9%).

This morning's WPA brought to you by the long road to a win:
