Game 48 WPA: What, me worry? Nats win 2-1

Ross didn't strike 'em all out, but he managed his contact and Harper and Espy (?!) came through with the solo bombs sufficient for victory.

"You pick as goofy a picture of me as you like, I still got the win." (Not an actual quote.)

(What do these graphs mean?)

  • Tightrope walked: Joe Ross (+25.6%) gives up one run over 7 IP, fanning 4 and walking one. I'm still not a fan of P2C, but he made it work.
  • I see you, Jackie Robinson: Bryce Harper (+14.7%) cranks a majestic solo moonshot to the third deck in RF, just above Robinson's name, to tie the game in the 6th (+19.6%).
  • Work on the fielding, dude: Danny Espinosa (+14.5%) hits a go-ahead solo shot of his own out to RF for the winning run in the 7th (+23.0%).
  • Fearless: Felipe Rivero (+11.7%) works around an Epsy error and gets righties and lefties alike out for a scoreless aeyth and a shutdown.
  • Delightfully uninteresting: Jonathan Papelbon (+15.6%) works a 1-2-3 9th for a shutdown to end the game with a curly W in the books.
  • Be more hitterish: Ben Revere (-9.7%) is 0-4 with a GDP.

Tonight's WPA brought to you by avian warnings:
