Game 62 WPA: New hotness. Nats win 8-0.

Roark had a pretty strong start, and the bats came alive behind him.

(What do these graphs mean?)

  • There's a new bulldog in town: Tanner "What I do is win games" Roark (+20.5% pitching, +5.3% hitting) throws 7 scoreless with 7 K s and a walk, getting into and out of jams with aplomb.
  • Jump out early: Stephen "Sunday lineup every day" Drew (+9.5%) singles in a run to get the Nats all they'd need to win with one out in the first (+9.9%).
  • Delightful well in excess of its WPA: Roark lays down a near-perfect safety squeeze (in spite of everyone in the stadium expecting it) to double the Nats' lead, reaching when the throw goes home and isn't in time (+6.0%).
  • Now you're just piling on: Michael "A." Taylor (+9.1%) is 3-5 with a double and an RBI. Clint "Why won't SBNation auto-link my name?" Robinson (+7.3%) is 3-4 with a run scored. Anthony "I will call him mini-Zim" Rendon (+0.7%) is 1-4 with a double, 2 RBI, and 2 runs scored. Bryce "Hey, I was in the lineup, too" Harper (+8.2%) is 1-4 with a walk and an RBI

Today's WPA brought to you by those BURNS:
