Game 55 WPA: It got late early. Nats lose 2-7

Gio battles a bad zone, some bad pitches, and bad BABIP. Trea has a nice night up, but the rest of the lineup struggles with the Curse of SGINHO, and the Nats were never really in it.

I'm not going to make a 'feed the family' crack because it seems mean, but you gotta do better, Gio.

(What do these graphs mean?)

  • BABIP'D: Gio Gonzalez (-27.2%) gives up some solid contact, but most of it is bloops, bouncers, and bleeders as he gives up 5 runs over 6 innings pitched with 8 and no walks.
  • The lonely [junk-timing] wolf: Jayson Werth (-1.1%) bloops a solo dinger into the RF corner to get the Nats on the board in the 7th with the game well out of hand (+2.0%).
  • Compare and contrast: Trea Turner (+5.9%) leads the Nats in hitting WPA by going 3-3 with a double, a walk, and a NY TOOTBLAN. Danny Espinosa (-4.9%) is 0-3 with 2 Ks and 2 LOB.
  • Production? Ben Revere (-5.4%) goes 3U, 4-3, P5, 3U (RBI) (-1.4%).

So, Doghouse, is Laz Diaz a blind bum?

You tell me:

Get some glasses or something, Laz. I think Ramos can hook you up with LASIK.
