Game 56 WPA: DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM. Nats lose.

Strasburg hit a milestone and apparently tweaked his calf on it. Watch out for those things, man.

(What do these graphs mean?)

  • Mr. One-Thousand: Stephen Strasburg (-16.0%) gives up a run in 5 IP, but only gets one more out after the ensuing rain delay before leaving with an injury and 10 Ks, 2 Walks, and 3 runs in all.
  • Tony four-bags: Anthony Rendon (+8.8%) smacks a two-run homer to give the Nats an early lead in the 2nd (-16.6%).
  • Rescuer: Blake Treinen (+9.0%) gets the last two outs in the 6th to keep the game within one and earn a shutdown.
  • Run like someone's chasing you: Danny Espinosa (+24.3%) hits a game-tying solo shot with two outs in the ayeth (+26.3%).
  • This is the man I say should be the relief ace: Shawn Kelley (-36.1%) comes into a two-on, two-out jam in the ayeth and promptly gives up a three-run dinger (-35.6%) to the losing margin.
  • Improvement? Ben Revere (-10.5%) is 0-3 with a walk and three fly outs.

This WPA brought to you by slow-motion tragedy:
