Game 94 WPA: Rough Introduction. Nats lose 4-8

Lopez didn't have the smoothest debut, although he showed flashes of why he's considered a top prospect. The rest of the Nats produced a little, but much less than they should have.

Better luck next time, kid.

(What do these graphs mean?)

  • Nice curve, now keep the fastball out of the middle: Reynaldo Lopez (-31.3%) fans 9 and walks 1 in 4.2 IP, but gives up a ton of hard contact resulting in 6 runs.
  • Catching up on padding his stats: Jose Lobaton (+0.3) gets minimal WPA recognition for a soaring fly-ball dinger over the out-of-town scoreboard in right with two outs in the fifth (+2.1%).
  • Majik aeyth: Trea Turner (+0.0%) triples in a pair of runs in the ayeth to nudge the WPA needle slightly (+4.4%), and Daniel Murphy (+4.0%) follows up with an RBI double that just missed bouncing out off the top of the wall in CF (+4.3%).
