Major League Baseball announced the rosters for next Tuesday's midsummer classic and the Washington Nationals will be sending four players to represent the Nationals League.
Bryce Harper was elected at a starter in the outfield, his fourth selection and third start. Wilson Ramos and Daniel Murphy were named as reserve position players, while Stephen Strasburg was named to the pitching staff in his hometown of San Diego.
Murphy was beat out as a starter by the Cubs' Ben Zobrist by a mere 88 votes.
It's the second time in Nats history that four players have been named All-Stars (2012).
Harper, 23, goes to his fourth game as the reigning N.L. MVP. He earned N.L. player of the month in April and entered Tuesday with 17 homers, 48 RBI and an .894 OPS with a .404 OBP, tied for third int he N.L.
Murphy, 31, make his second All-Star game. He leads N.L. hitters with a .347 batting average and 108 total hits. He is second among N.L. second basemen with 14 homers.
Ramos, 28, is a first-time All-Star. He's second to only Murphy with a .340 batting average and his .958 OPS ranks fifth. Ramos leads all NL catchers in average, OPS, homers (13) and RBI (46).
Strasburg, 27, earns his second career All-Star nod. He holds MLB's best record at 11-0 and is 11th in the N.L. with a 2.71 ERA and he's fifth in strikeouts with 123.
