Bryce Harper was voted into the starting outfield for the National League by 2,865,095 fans, garnering the most votes of any NL outfielder.
In earning his fourth All-Star nod, his third as a starter, Harper, 23, joins Hall of Famer Gary Carter and Andre Dawson as the only players in franchise (including the Montreal Expos) history to earn at least three fan elections to the Midsummer Classic.
After struggling in May, Harper's on a bit of a run lately too, having reached base safely in 29 of his last 31 games.
Since June 1st, the 2010 No. 1 overall pick has put up a .278/.374/.452 line with four doubles, six home runs, 19 walks and 19 Ks in 33 games over that stretch.
FOXSports.com's Jon Morosi noted just how unique it was for Harper to be appearing in his fourth All-Star Game before his 24th birthday:
With two games left before the All-Star Break, Harper has a .258/.398/.498 line on the year. He ranks seventh in the NL in OBP, is tied for 5th in the NL in go-ahead RBIs, tied for 7th with eight game-winning RBIs and he has a .314 AVG (16 for 51) with three home runs and 29 RBIs in at bats with runners in scoring position this season.
In recognition of Harper's selection as one of the National League's starting outfielders, The Topps Company has created a Topps NOW baseball card featuring the Nationals' right fielder.
