Wire Taps: Brian Goodwin gets first ML hit; Max Scherzer hitting stride; Dusty Baker shares report card anecdote

Catch up on the last 24 hours in Nationals news on another long day without baseball. All the links that were fit to link...

Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports

Starting tomorrow, the Nationals will finally get to play the Atlanta Braves. The last time they saw them? April 14th. That's right, folks. The Nats and Braves haven't played for nearly FOUR months.

Here's the scoop from South Capitol.

Brian Goodwin gets first Major League hit
The Nationals dugout went crazy after Brian Goodwin recorded his first Major League hit, a single through the right side.

Max Scherzer hitting his stride
After struggling with the home run for his first few months, Scherzer has started pitching the way he did last year - dominantly.

Dusty Baker told a story about his report card, and of course it related to the Nationals' offensive struggles
Dusty, when asked about the Nationals' then-ailing offense, told the press an anecdote about his conduct grade in school, and it related perfectly to the Nationals. Because of course it did.

Mike Rizzo does not expect Tim Tebow to make the big leagues
The Nationals' GM was skeptical, to say the least, of Tebow's baseball skills. On the other hand, imagine Tim Tebow jumping onto home plate after a walk-off home run, only to start Tebowing when he scores.

Dusty early frontrunner for Manager of the Year

Not saying, just saying.
