Game 120 WPA: I like the cut of Rey's jib. Nats win 8-2

Lopez has another strong outing, and the Nats put up a stack of runs late to make sure the pressure is off the bullpen.

(What do these graphs mean?)

  • I, for one, welcome our new Stras-Roark hybrid overlord: Reynaldo Lopez (+20.3%) continues to impress, giving up 2 runs (one earned) in 7 IP, fanning eleven and walking two.
  • Unearned runs count, too: Anthony Rendon (+21.7%) gets a hilarious ROE two-bagger that plates two and gives the Nats the lead in the first (+18.8%), plus a bases-loaded HBP to drive in a run in the aeyth (+5.1%).
  • Running around naked: Jayson Werth (+9.1%) doubles in a run with two outs in the 5th to give the Nats a two-run lead and tie the franchise record for longest on-base streak (+11.7%).
  • Stealth rally: The Nats get +23.2% WPA in the aeyth a little bit at a time, with 11 batters racking up 5 runs with 3 walks, a HBP, a passed ball, a couple of singles, a sac fly, and an ROE.

Tonight's WPA brought to you by I still don't quite understand what's going on, here:
