Wire Taps: Jayson Werth ties on-base record; A.J Cole recalled; Ryan Zimmerman and Jose Lobaton likely to return

Catch up on the last 24 hours in Nationals news before the start of the second game of Washington's four-game set with the Atlanta Braves.

Another day, another delay. While you recover from yet another late night, enjoy your morning links!

Here's the latest from Atlanta.

Jayson Werth extends on-base streak to 46, ties franchise record
Werth tied the franchise record held by Rusty Staub with a double in the fifth inning. The all-time record is held by Ted Williams (84 games). Werth could still hypothetically tie or break that record by reaching base until the fifth or fourth-to-last game of the season.

Nationals recall A.J. Cole, assign Brian Goodwin to Triple-A
The Nats called up the big righty to bolster the bullpen while it recovers from a series of heavy use in Colorado.

Ryan Zimmerman and Jose Lobaton could be back with the Nationals today:

Oliver Perez struggling when the Nats need him most
Felipe Rivero is now a Pittsburgh Pirate, and Sammy Solis is on the DL, leaving Oliver Perez as the only lefty in the Nats' bullpen - and he's struggling mightily.

Reynaldo Lopez, Joe Ross can still make postseason impact
IF the Nationals make the playoffs, and IF Gio Gonzalez is the fourth starter in a playoff rotation, Reynaldo Lopez and Joe Ross can still be important to a playoff run.

Today's Game: Nationals vs Braves - 7:35 PM (MASN, WJFK)
Probable Pitchers: Tanner Roark (13-6, 2.81 ERA) vs Julio Teheran (3-9, 2.81 ERA)
