Game 121 WPA: Messy. Nats win 7-6

Roark pitched well enough, but the Nats had some sloppy play along with some sparkling play. Luckily there was just enough run support to win it.

(What do these graphs mean?)

  • Title about Tanner: Tanner Roark (+17.3%) stayed in a bit too long, but ate some innings, giving up 3 runs in 6 1/3 IP with 3 Ks and 3 walks.
  • Not the hero: Trea Turner (+18.3%) is on the bases all night, going 3-5 with a double, a run-scoring ROE, and an RBI groundout.
  • He had a pretty good catch tonight, too: Ben Revere (+2.2%) hits a two-out, RBI single in the 5th to put the Nats up by two (+11.2%).
  • Error-prone: Matt Belisle (-8.4%) only gets one out in the ayeth, letting in a run and leaving with a runner on (thanks for the E6, Danny) to earn a meltdown. Koda Glover (-34.2%) finishes the inning but loses the lead, giving up the tying runs after one reached on an E5 (thanks, Anthony).
  • The hero: Clint Robinson (+40.8%) makes the most of his occasional start, going 2-3 with a pair of walks and the game-winning RBI single with two outs in the 9th (+36.3%).
  • Dénouement: Mark Melancon (+18.5%) gives up a hit but fans a pair on the way to a scoreless 9th and a shutdown.
