Wire Taps: Does Wade Boggs = Washington Nationals’ manager search spoiler?

Catch up on the last 24 hours in Nationals news while we wait for the World Series to end so we can figure out who will be Washington’s next manager?

Did Hall of Fame hitter, fried chicken aficionado, and one-time teammate of Nationals’ managerial candidate Dave Martinez (in Tampa Bay - 1998-99) break the news on the Chicago Cubs’ bench coach getting the manager’s gig in Washington? Hmmm? Does Boggs have the scoops?

Wade Boggs sent out an interesting tweet last night about what would be big news (if true), congratulating Martinez for getting the job in D.C., though subsequent reports have said nothing has been decided in the nation’s capital...

[ed. note - “Ummm, Wade, sorry, sir, but ‘Nat’s’ is not correct possessive apostrophe usage.”]

Without responding directly to Boggs’ tweet, Washington Post writer Chelsea Janes reported on Twitter last night that a source told her no decision on the Nationals’ managerial search has been made yet:

Boggs hasn’t deleted the Tweet yet (as of 8:28 AM on Saturday). Are the Nats just waiting to make an announcement once the World Series ends? Is the search still on? Someone answer my questions? Anyone? Why is no one answering? Ahhh, forget it.

On to the links...
