Top Washington Nationals’ prospect Victor Robles has played in just four Arizona Fall League games, but the 20-year-old outfielder and No. 2 ranked prospect in the game according to MLB.com, was named to the AFL’s Fall Stars roster this afternoon.
Robles, who debuted in the majors this season, and ended up making the Nationals’ roster for the NLDS, is 4 for 17 (.235/.278/.471) with a double and a home run, a walk and seven Ks so far in the so-called finishing school for the game’s top prospects.
He talked shortly after arriving in Arizona about his experience in the major leagues this season, and what it meant to him to get the call after posting a .300/.382/.493 line, 37 doubles, eight triples, and 10 home runs in 114 games and 496 PAs between High-A Potomac and Double-A Harrisburg, over which he stole 27 bases.
“It’s something that all baseball players want to reach, is to be there,” Robles said, through a translator, earlier this month.
“It’s an unbelievable, unforgettable experience. I felt really good that the team gave me the opportunity.”
Robles went 6 for 25 (.250/.308/.458) with a double and two triples in 13 games in the majors. He took some time off before reporting to the AFL, but said once he got there that he wanted to take advantage of another opportunity.
"It's a good league, I'm going to develop here," Robles said, as quoted by MLB.com. "It's a good opportunity that I want to take advantage of."
The 12th AFL Fall Stars game will be held this Saturday at 8:00 PM EDT and it will be shown live on MLB Network and streamed on MLB.com.
