Hopefully Brian Goodwin didn’t unpack. Goodwin was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse last night to make room on the Washington Nationals’ roster for Joe Ross’s return, but this afternoon, the Nationals recalled Goodwin with Chris Heisey landing on the 10-Day DL with a right biceps rupture.
Heisey, 32, has struggled coming off the bench this season, going 0 for 14 with six Ks as a pinch hitter, after he went 7 for 41 with two doubles and three home runs in the role in 2016.
The veteran outfielder returned to the nation’s capital on a 1-year/$1.4M deal, but has put up a .128/.180/.213 line overall so far in 28 games and 50 plate appearances.
No word on how Heisey suffered the injury, with reports from Nationals Park saying he was out on the field before tonight’s game.
Woah: Nationals place Chris Heisey on the DL with a right bicep rupture. He was out there for BP today. Brian Goodwin comes back.

Goodwin, 26, has played in 10 games with the Nationals this season, going 3 for 16 with two doubles in limited playing time.
NATIONALS RESCHEDULE FINALE WITH MARINERS:
With the threat of rain tomorrow afternoon, the Washington Nationals decided to move the finale with the Seattle Mariners from 4:05 PM EDT to 12:05 PM EDT.
The Nationals explained the decision in a tweeted press release earlier today:
Tomorrow's 4:05 p.m. game has been moved to 12:05 p.m. For more information please visit: https://t.co/eFX9zanHyH pic.twitter.com/eJSnVUT4bH

The Mariners, obviously, wouldn’t want to have to return to the nation’s capital for a one-off game if rain threatened the series finale, so the change seems to be a move made to try to make sure the third game of the three-game set in D.C. gets played.
The Nationals already had one InterLeague game rained out and rescheduled, but that was with the Baltimore Orioles, who won’t have to travel nearly as far as the Mariners would have in order to make up a game. As noted above, tickets for the original 4:05 PM game will be honored at the 12:05 PM game. Might be a quiet, soggy day at the park tomorrow.
