Some more evidence, as if we needed more, that Washington Nationals’ starter Max Scherzer is kind of, you know, different...
Also, this is probably NSFLR (Not Safe For Lip Readers).
Scherzer was fired up last night, piling up Ks last night against the Dodgers and also doing double-duty motivating himself to get Dem Bums...

The self-motivation clearly worked. Scherzer struck out 14 batters overall, setting a new personal season high, though he still hasn’t come close to his 20-K outing last season:

Dusty Baker liked what he saw from his right-hander, as usual, telling reporters after the game that Scherzer settled in nicely after a shaky start.
“He struggled some early, then he found his control in the middle innings, and if you don’t get to the elite pitchers early — then [you] let them settle in, and, boy he was great,” Baker said.
Dodgers’ skipper Dave Roberts told reporters Scherzer had everything working.
“He did. He did,” Roberts said. “And obviously he’s on a nice run right now, but I know that when he has an opportunity to face us he’s going to bring his best and he did tonight. This is a guy that can strike any pitch that he throws, was getting ahead of guys and when he gets ahead he’s going to wipe you out and he did.”
