Just one more day until baseball returns! And 360-something days until the All Star Game at Nationals Park! We promise we’ll stop counting down to this soon. But hey, one can never be too excited for something that could potentially be more than a year away!
Here’s the news from Nats Park.
The Nationals front office was out in full force at the All-Star Game to prepare for 2018
Nearly every department, from groundskeeping to media relations, sent a representative to Marlins Park to help the Nats to get an idea for how they'd do next season's All-Star Game. (Hint: the theme of baseball's importance to the country is going to be a big part.)
Jansen, Holland, Neshek, What Could Have Been, And What May Still Be
The two closers were free agents last offseason. Seeing them at the All-Star Game is another reminder of Washington's floundering bullpen.
Checking back in on Lucas Giolito and Reynaldo Lopez
Giolito and Lopez are both having good, not great, seasons in the minors, and won't be ready for the show for a while (which is okay, because the White Sox don't really need them there).
The Washington Post ranks and discusses every MLB ballpark
From the Trop to the top (AT&T Park), the Post discusses them all.
Where does Edwin Jackson fit into the Nats' plans?
Jackson hasn't allowed a run in 17 1/3 innings over four starts in Triple-A Syracuse, and he can opt out of his contract on August 1st. Best of all, there are no obvious solutions!
Boswell: Nationals Park gets its second and final chance to make a first impression next season
The incredible amount of change in the Navy Yard area has gone far beyond what most could have dreamed up. Now the question is, will the area be ready for the All-Star Game by next year, or would it have benefited from waiting another year or two?
Bryce Harper: Apparently not a fan of the city of New York
Is Harper trolling us all? Quite possible. It's also quite possible that Harper legitimately doesn't like how busy New York is. Interesting...
Tomorrow’s Game: Nationals vs Reds — 7:10 PM
Probable Pitchers: TBA vs Tim Adleman
