MLB announces 2017 Postseason Schedule - NLDS, NLCS, World Series dates...

No one here is taking anything for granted, but MLB has to announce these things, so we’re just providing the following as a helpful planner for your October.

Dusty Baker told reporters earlier this month that though there is a way to go before October baseball, and there are plenty of games to play before anything is decided, he has given some thought to the standings and how things might shake out if/when Washington returns to the Postseason for the fourth time in six seasons.

It came up while Baker was discussing the possibility of securing home field advantage in the NLDS while the Nationals were playing the Chicago Cubs, a potential postseason opponent.

“It’s something I always think about, but it’s hard to convey that to the players at this point,” Baker said.

“I know as a manager what it means,” he explained, "cause I’ve been there before, for home field advantage, but right now we’ve just got take it one game at a time here.”

While that’s probably a good approach for the manager and his team, Major League Baseball has to plan for October.

This afternoon, MLB released the 2017 Postseason schedule:

The National League’s Division Series is set to start on October 6th.

NLDS Game 1: Friday, October 6th - Home

Game 2: Saturday, October 7th - Home

Game 3: Monday, October 9th - Away

Game 4*: Tuesday, October - 10th - Away

Game 5*: Thursday, October - 12th - Home

* = If Necessary

Contrary to what you might have been told as fans of baseball in the nation’s capital, they do keep playing after the NLDS, and here’s the schedule for what Baltimore Orioles fans tell me is called the National League Championship Series or NLCS, which is set to begin on October 14th:

NLCS Game 1: Saturday, October 14th - Home

Game 2: Sunday, October 15th - Home

Game 3: Tuesday, October 17th - Away

Game 4: Wednesday, October 18th - Away

Game 5*: Thursday, October 19th - Away

Game 6*: Saturday, October 21st - Home

Game 7*: Sunday, October 22nd - Home

* = If Necessary

After that, it’s the World Series, which starts October 24th and wraps up on November 1st, if necessary. The entirety of the National League playoffs will be televised by TBS as noted above in the @MLB_PR tweet.
