So, the Nats got back to beating the teams they’re supposed to beat with pitching that’s pitching like it’s supposed to.
Now to do that against the Mets in about a week.
Here’s the news from Nationals Park.
Victor Robles has hyperextended left elbow
Robles has no bone damage, but won't know the full extent of his troubles until the swelling goes down.
Max Scherzer joined some elite company (again) with his performance Monday
Scherzer, in terms of games pitched with at least ten strikeouts without a walk, is up there with Randy Johnson, Roger Clemens, and Clayton Kershaw. His active strikeout total is 63rd all-time. He's the only pitcher since Nolan Ryan to throw a shutout and record ten strikeouts in a game, in addition to stealing a base. He may be pretty special.
Adam Eaton likely headed to DL with ankle injury; Moises Sierra to get called up
The repercussions from Adam Eaton's weird slide on Thursday festered and got worse until the outfielder deemed them unbearable. He'll take a week or two (supposedly) to rest and finish off some rehab work from his earlier ACL injury, but the timetable certainly has him back this spring.
Adam Eaton scratched from Nationals’ lineup; Ryan Zimmerman moved down in order
Martinez committed to Zimmerman in the cleanup slot after the home opener. It didn't last too long.
Adam Eaton scratched with ankle bruise
Eaton didn't play Monday, so presumably, the Nats will DL him retroactive to April 9th.
Stephen Strasburg dominates in win vs. Braves
Atlanta hadn't lost a series this season. Enter Max Scherzer and Stephen Strasburg.
Corey Kluber Is the Best Pitcher in Baseball
Kluber's 2.51 FIP and 4.6 WAR since the 2017 All-Star Break outruns Max Scherzer, Stephen Strasburg, Justin Verlander, and pretty much anyone else you can think of.
Today’s Game: Braves vs. Nationals — 1:05 PM
Probable Pitchers: Brandon McCarthy vs. A.J. Cole
