Saturday’s loss was the Washington Nationals’ eighth in nine one-run games this season, and their second in a row against the Arizona Diamondbacks, who’ve won each series of their season thus far in 2018.

Davey Martinez talked after Friday night’s game about falling short in close contests early.

“We’ve been close,” Martinez told reporters. “I would like to win some of these games, but let’s stay right there, like I said, we want to win those games and we will win those games, like I said, it’s just getting that one key hit in a big moment that will turn this thing around.”

Maybe that big moment will come in this afternoon’s series finale with the D-backs...
