Before this afternoon’s matchup with the New York Mets in D.C., the Washington Nationals announced they recalled Matt Reynolds and selected the contract of catcher Jhonatan Solano from Triple-A.

Additionally, the Nationals placed veteran catcher Miguel Montero on the paternity list and designated left-handed pitcher Enny Romero for assignment.

Reynolds, 27, is a 2012 2nd Round pick by the Mets who was acquired by the Nationals back on February 12th this Spring in return for cash.

In two major league seasons, the infielder/outfielder has put up a combined .228/.300/.351 line, nine doubles, two triples, and four home runs in 115 games and 226 plate appearances.

Reynolds impressed this Spring, posting a .277/.452/.447 line with two doubles, two home runs, 14 walks and 14 Ks in 28 games, and with Adam Eaton nursing a tweaked ankle, and the Nationals’ bench short after they started the season with a loaded bullpen, they needed another bat.

Solano, 32, returns to the Nationals for whom he made his MLB debut back in 2012. Over three major league seasons, the catcher has put up a .184/.222/.301 line with six doubles and two home runs in 43 games and 108 PAs.

Romero, 27, gave up five hits, a walk, and three earned runs in two innings early in 2018, after putting up a 3.56 ERA, 3.86 FIP, 23 walks, and 65 Ks in 55 23 innings pitched for the Nationals after he was acquired from the Tampa Bay Rays in return for righty Jeffrey Rosa during Spring Training in 2017.
