The Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals spent their first weekend with the Cup on an extended wine-tasting, if one were to replace wine with copious amounts of hard alcohol and beer.
The tour has taken them around the city — the Caps have been spotted doing everything from frolicking in the fountains in Georgetown to partying it up at an Arlington bar.

However, before they began day-drinking, the Caps started their day with, uh, more day drinking during a game at Nationals Park.
The team entered the ballpark for their first official interviews since Game 5, and then took some photos with the Nats.
Asked about his contract, Trotz referenced his mantra of doing things with great clarity. Then says he doesn’t have it today. “Self-inflicted.” And laughs. pic.twitter.com/l54wlOzg7m

After that, Alex Ovechkin led the team on to the field with the cup in hand to throw out the first pitch, which nearly killed a patron of the Delta Sky360 club.
Ovechkin then got a mulligan:

Alex Ovechkin’s first pitch airmailed Max Scherzer. He then asked for the ball back for a do-over. Second one was right there. Max told me he wanted to do anything he could to catch the first one. As for the second try: “When you win the Cup, you do what you want.”

A day in a half into his post-#StanleyCup partying, Alex Ovechkin needed a do-over on his ceremonial first pitch @SWhyno https://t.co/AOFI7GIMd1 pic.twitter.com/XWWmG1c6yy

The Caps then retreated to a suite in the upper levels of the stadium, where they randomly raised the Stanley Cup whenever they felt so inclined (because why not) and performed a very drunk rendition of Queen’s “We Are the Champions” in an interview with Dan Kolko.

Alex Ovechkin is just holding the Stanley Cup up in the middle of the inning. They won’t put him on the Jumbotron because the ball is still in play lmfao #ALLCAPS #StanleyCup pic.twitter.com/XRRuUUWrOP

T.J. Oshie also drank a cup of something or the other through his shirt as the Caps were on the big screen during the seventh inning stretch, which was impressive more than anything.
T.J. Oshie just took a shot through his shirt while "We Are The Champions" played and the team was on the jumbotron.

Unsurprisingly, when Bryce Harper homered later on in the game, the Cup made an appearance.

The team stayed through the rest of the game and watched the Nationals close out a 7-5 win.
