Today’s Washington Nationals’ game against the Pittsburgh Pirates will not be on MASN. Nor, in fact, will it be on ESPN, FOX, MLB Network, or even MLB.TV.
The game, which will start at 12:35 PM, will still be televised, though. Facebook will have the game live on their website, their app, and their affiliated platforms.
To watch, log on to Facebook’s website right when the game starts — you can also see it on your phone, iPad, or TV, if you have the Facebook video app or the capability to stream.
Once on Facebook, search “MLB Live,” and follow the page to receive updates (you can unsubscribe as soon as the game ends).
The commentary will feature at least one familiar voice, with MASN color analyst F.P. Santangelo in the booth. From the Washington Post:
MASN Nationals analyst F.P. Santangelo will be in the booth for the broadcast. Former Marlins broadcaster Rich Waltz will handle play-by-play, MLB Network’s Sean Casey will join Santangelo as an analyst, and MLB Network’s Stephen Nelson will serve as the in-game reporter.
Facebook pulled a matchup featuring Gio Gonzalez and Trevor Williams, which, based on their most recent performances, has the potential to be a slugfest; in his last three starts, Gonzalez has a 9.00 ERA while Williams has an 8.31 ERA.
[ed. note - “To reiterate, the game is only available on Facebook Watch. You can listen on 106.7 the FAN in D.C., but this is the only way to watch the game. The only way. We repeat, the only way to watch today’s game. It’s the only way. Only way. Only.”]
