Around five hours before the scheduled start time for tonight’s matchup with the Atlanta Braves, the Washington Nationals announced that second game of this weekend’s three-game set was postponed due to inclement weather.
“Information regarding the date and time of the rescheduled game will be released at a later time,” they noted on Twitter.
The forecast right now calls for rain throughout the day tomorrow as well.
Davey Martinez’s Nationals dropped the series opener to the NL East’s second-place Braves, who are a 0.5-game behind the first-place Philadelphia Phillies.
Both the Nats and Braves have dropped six of their last ten, with the Phillies 5-5 over that stretch.
Gio Gonzalez was set to start tonight’s game with Max Scherzer going in the series finale tomorrow afternoon, and the Nats announced that they would stick with Scherzer against Braves’ right-hander Mike Foltynewicz.
