The results are in for the final week of the SB Nation’s FanPulse voting in the regular season, and this year that doesn’t mean the end of the campaign for the Washington Nationals.
That’s right, they’re going to play at least 163 games this season, because Davey Martinez’s club earned a spot in the NL Wild Card game this week, locking up a ticket to the play-in to make it to the NLDS, where the season has ended in all of the Nats’ four previous trips to the postseason.
Martinez led his club back from 12 games under .500 in May to the Wild Card game, so let’s take a look at where the fan confidence in the overall direction of the team is this week:
So, that’s 60%, up slightly, as you can see, from last week (58%), but down from two weeks back (67%) after it was at 88% in the two weeks which preceded that, before the Nats’ were losing games at the start of September. But they’ve turned it around, and they’re got a spot in the Wild Card Game, so surely the managerial approval number is up right?
You must be new to the internet.
Davey Martinez’s manager approval rating dropped to 49% this week, after it was at 66% for two weeks before falling to 56% for two weeks.
It’s tough out there in FanPulse voter land, apparently.
We’re not going to waste any time trying to make sense of it all, and we’re just going to enjoy the Nationals’ first experience in the Wild Card game.
So just go check out the results on the national baseball question of the week, because we’re like so done with you...
